RE: Canon Matte M1 - Gray Balance -> Visual
I got to run a proof of i1Profiler's calculated gray balance on my printer, on this incredibly, brutally and obnoxiously optically brightened Canon Matte paper, and the results were not bad at all. The profile, to me, has done a good job of converting the source neutral CIE Lab values to the destination color space of the paper. Only the L 90 patch appears visually yellower than the rest. But, to me, overall, the patches appear to "belong" to the Paper White "family", chromatically. Nothing really sticks out like a sore thumb. Of course, the appearance of the print changes according to the lighting under which I view it. Under the GTI lamps, it looks acceptably well-balanced to these eyeballs. This is an RGB scan of the print: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AkD78CVR1NBqkLVRYtXX1ak2b9pahQ I measured each patch with an FD-7 and recorded the M1 CIE Lab values on the print itself. I think the values speak for themselves. Next, I plan to try some "grayscale"-type images, and, ultimately, I'll get to Fogra52... Thank you so much for your kind help and patience. / Roger
