Photoshop - Abstract profiles and Color Lookup.
Dear all, I would like to do a test but it seems it’s impossible so far. Maybe somebody will prove the contrary. I opened a RGB file with an ICC embedded workspace profile. I chose a color lookup as adjustment layers in order to load a DeviceLink. But while it works for a CMY2CMYK conversion, this use doesn’t work for a RGB2CMYK one. Do you confirm? Thank you. H Axel, this is something I had discussed with Adobe when they added DeviceLink "support" to CS5. They are 1. unable to convert from one color model to a different one using a DeviceLink 2. unable to use the ICC tag that they have defined themselves, which specifies the source and destination profiles in a DeviceLink – namely the PSID tag ( short for Profile Sequence Identifier). This results in the source profile sticking to the file after conversion, which then looks whacked. You need to switch profiles manually, best before you save the converted file 😎 The reason for both problems is that they don't use the CMM for the transform, but a kind of filter mechanism. In one word: Unusable! Freundliche Grüße/Best regards, Karl Koch basICColor GmbH
