Recovering Measurement Data from i1Profiler
I have built quite a few RGB profiles for my Epson printer using the Epson driver and i1Profiler. At the time of profiling, I did not know the measurement data was not saved in the profile (I was used to ProfileMaker), so I did not save the measurement data. I have the chart definitions, the text files for the charts, and the profiles, but no actual measurement data files. Is there any way to recover or easily reconstruct this information from the above files? I looking to recover Lab or spectral readings from the profiling target. Thanks, Lou
Yes of course. I think PatchTool would allow to do that out of the box? Otherwise, Heidelberg ColorToolbox has a function dedicated just for that. Otherwise, I'm not sure? Argyll? LittleCMS? I think the old GretagMacbeth ColorLab application would allow to do that too, with a little bit or arbeit. Chromix ColorThink? I'm not sure. But it's so versatile, I wouldn't be surprise that this is a trick Steve has long had under his sleeve ;-) What else? I'll let the others come forward with their ideas. i1 Profiler profiles should contain the measurement data in the 'CxF ' tag, which is a Zlib compressed XML structure in CxF format. Am 13.09.2014 um 17:59 schrieb Louis Dina:

Measurement data is saved...just check the "save CXF data" when you're building the profile. Drag the profile back into i1P anytime after that to recover the data. Terry Sent from Terry's iPhone - excuse the brevity and typos

Thanks for the answers. Roger...Thanks for the answer. I dragged the target TXT file into ColorThink and applied the RGB profile in question. If I set it up for Abs Colorimetric, then graph it in 3D, the most saturated points line up perfectly around the border of the profile's gamut. So, I'd say I did it right. The color list gives me all the Lab valves read off the target, which is what I wanted. I just didn't know how to do it and didn't think of it, so thanks. Terry…I see how I can bring a profile back into i1Profiler and regenerate a profile with the CXF data. Is there any way to save the actual measurement data from i1P in a separate file that can be opened with a text editor? I was able to generate a text file from ColorThink that contains the reference RGB numbers and the measured Lab numbers. I figured i1P probably saves both spectral data and Lab. I didn't see a way to save the measurement data into a separate file from i1P. Florian…I did see the CxF tag in the profile using ColorThink. When I click on it, all I see are odd characters that seem to be protected or encrypted. I didn't see anyway to save or export this from ColorThink. Thanks for all the answers. Very helpful. The odd characters are the zlib compressed XML data. I don't know if there is an existing tool which can extract and uncompress this, I could write a small commandline script that would offer that functionality though. Florian
As long as your profile has cxf measurement data in it, the easiest way to get the raw data is to bring it back into i1Profiler itself. 1)While in the Profiling workflow, drag the profile onto the measurement icon in the workflow at the bottom. 2) Switch to that section if you weren’t already there. 3) Chose Save in the page data section (right above workflow) There are several options you can save i1Profiler’s own version of CxF which includes a custom resource for other data, a standard CxF file an i1Profiler CGATS file (this has the chart and spectral data). If you want just Lab and XYZ you might choose i1Profiler CGATs custom which gives you a host of options for both data and formatting.
