The problem is that the iPad has a very different color gamut compared to sRGB. Specially in the blue hue and the saturation overall. If you prefer to think they look the same... It is up to you! My point about color management for the iPad is more about magazine, publications, etc. were color is as much important as their printed versions. Roger,
If by that you mean "assume sRGB for display". I'd say yes. Just do what Safari (and most of Windows) has always done. In this case, it actually makes a bit sense. ;)

Hi Louis! I don't think "they look the same", but I do know I prefer a "nice looking" image to an image that's color correct in gamut, but clipped where out of the iPads gamut. IMO, clipping is a way more noticeable phenomenon then the colors being a bit off… Also: How many iPads do you guess are calibrated? My (wild) guess: Less then 2%. Sounds to me like the iPad needs a scheme where the iPad's display were characterised, and the incoming magazine content was also characterised, then a transformation could be made between them that preserved the color distinctions while making the best use of the gamut! You could even standardise it, so that documents and software from different people could all use the same scheme! This idea reminds me of something I've seen somewhere.... Graeme Gill.
