Using iProfiler When Data Set Has Been "White Point" Adjusted
Greetings, I have been testing the SubstrateRelCalc_v6_DRAFT4.xls file, and another excel file that does about the same thing, to adjust my white point. I then paste the new XYZ and Lab numbers into my original measurement file replacing the spectral data. However when I try to use this file with iProfiler it states this is an invalid measurement file. Before iProfiler I used Profilemaker to successfully create a profile predicting a curved target from just a linear run using an adjusted measurement file containing only lab numbers. Is there a way to use a lab / XYZ file in iProfiler, or is my only option to use Profilemaker? I only own Profilemaker and iProfiler. -Bill-
It should work just fine…..usually that message means there’s something in the formatting of the file that it doesn’t like. If you’re pasting it back into a measurement file that had spectral data, you’ll need to adjust the header entries and sample entries to make it align with the actual data you’re giving it. Try exporting a measurement file from i1Profiler using one of the CGATS options and then open it to see the kind of header info i1Profiler expects. By the way, if you’re already using measurement data from i1Profiler and want to simply adjust for a new paper white, you can do that in the Profile Settings tab and just enter a different paper white point. Another option, the one that I employ, is simply opening up the original ICC profile in PM5’s Profile Editor and just set a new white point (in Lch). I’ve compared this method to the Excel calculator and it produces results within tenths of a dE of the “official” calculator. I find just opening the profile and editing the white point to be much less troublesome than calculating a new set of characterization data. Hello Bill, I have written a short document which explains how to generat (some types of) CxF3 files to i1Profiler starting with a CGATS file. What is important in i1Profiler is to associate the proper RGB and CMYK reference data to your measurements file. If you lost your reference data while doing your measurements, you can re-associate it in PatchTool and, while we are at it, PatchTool also has a Substrate Relative computation tool.
