Random spot readings with i1Profiler photo version
One feature that Datacolor Print has is the ability to use the Spectrophotometer to take a spot measurement and get a lab reading instantly in a small window. So when I'm comparing prints I can quickly ascertain the difference in patches. It doesn't require me to have a target. Unfortunately you can't do the same in i1Profiler and I just looked at Color Port again and it requires a target also. If want to be able to do this with i1 profiler I have to upgrade to the Publish edition. The X-rite technician said there are third party apps but he couldn't name names. If anyone knows of an app that would make this easy I would appreciate the info. Jim Lawson email jiml1948@mac.com <mailto:jiml1948@mac.com> website http://www.jimlawsonphotography.com
You should be able to do this in ColorPort but it’s not initially intuitive. Make a custom target, even more than 1 patch. Make a spot measurements and click the "I" info button in the measurements are it will show you the values. Or export to a txt. I think newer versions of i1Profile can do this too. I use PatchTool (not free but so useful). Andrew Rodney http://www.digitaldog.net/ <http://www.digitaldog.net/>

Select the Advanced Mode in i1Profiler. Select Measure Chart option in the Workflow Selector. Specify if you are using an i1Pro or i1Pro2 Create a chart that is the number of patches you wish to measure. Go to the next step, Measurement, and Spot Measurement. Now you can save the information as a CGATS file (txt). That will allow you to now open up the text file and you will see the LAB values for that color patch. Andrew Rodney http://www.digitaldog.net/
Actually I got i1profiler to do exactly what I wanted and it's pretty quick. You just have to make a one patch Target in the measurement module and when you click on it and info screen comes up and I get what I need. Thank you everyone for your help. Double click on any measured patch in i1Profiler and all the color geek porn shows up on the left panel (if your license allows for it). Scott Martin
