Hello Scott: What is your proyect? I work for and with not profit working groups on image heritage and make use of devices from institution at no charge (sorry, suppose you are too far to do that in your environment) and instruct on image capture under normalized workflow (ISO TC42 and 130) with flatbed scanners and DSLR. In the last tow years have participation as photographer in local museum catalogs and urban landscape evolution. This is, capturing images from real world (outdoor and indoor), reproduction of maps, plans, photographic artifacts, objects, and sometimes some scans from 4X5" slides that were shooted by my self years ago. I have been making color conversions to CMYK with success. I have learned most of the time on this list, but searching and researching in many others sites on web and reading a lot of literature. Sadly I live in Canary Islands and speak spanish, so if you are in the mainland is redundant to say you have walked the have way in access to knowledgement.
