Can anyone share any news about the ICC committee on HDR’s status? We’re starting to feel the HDR heat! Very best, Jeff
Jeff - As you may know, HDR is a 64bit definition. ICC is a 16bit algorithm. Native HDR can not be confined to ICC, prior to downsampling into either 16bit or 8bit. Regards Jon Sent from my iPhone

I'm not sure what you mean by HDR being "64 bit". Most video streams are 16 bits per component or less. Typical displays are 10 - 12 bits at most. ICC V2 has 16 bit per channel precision and V4.4 can accommodate 32 bit per channel floating point profiles. So any issues with creating ICC profiles for HDR displays is purely about standards (such as what to regard as your white point luminance level), not the underlying capability of the ICC profile itself. Cheers, Graeme Gill.
Thank you Graham for explaining v4.4 This is the first specification supporting full HDR bit depth for camera input files. Has anyone built a compliant camera profiling tool? Jon Sent from my iPhone
