Re: Colorsync-users Digest, Vol 12, Issue 67
Ben, I use i1Profiler with the version D of i1 Pro. Can this application do it? I am not literate in this area of color. D Millers’ Photography L.L.C, David B. Ben, how would I have the software to read the home made patch?
Any instrument is going to ship with software that can do spot measurements. Whether or not that software can also do input profiling with arbitrary charts is another question...but the good news is that Argyll is free, at least matches and generally surpasses the commercial offerings in terms of quality, and supports pretty much any type of profiling or workflow or whatever.

I should let somebody else answer this, as I'm not a regular user of that software. As I recall, though, you have to pay to unlock various features of i1Profiler. The cheapest versions, if I remember right, don't support (for example) both camera and printer profiling, but rather just the one or the other. I'm pretty sure earlier versions of the software only supported official ColorChecker charts; I don't know if they yet support arbitrary charts. If you're making your own ColorChecker, you _might_ be able to replace the included reference file with readings you make...but I'm not sure. But, again...there're those on this list who use i1Profiler, as well as X-Rite employees; hopefully somebody more familiar with it than I will chime in.... Again, if you're okay with the command line, this sort of thing is quite doable with Argyll. Replacing the included ColorChecker reference file with one made from your own target is straightforward. Making reference files for your own chart is a bit more involved but not too bad, especially with a bit of help from the Argyll mailing list. Cheers, b&
Ben, I paid dearly, believe me, for the dongle giving full access to the application Cheers D Millers’ Photography L.L.C, David B. Miller, member dba Spinnaker Photo Imaging Center 3809 Alabama Street Bellingham, WA. 98226-4585 360 739 2826 david@spinnakerphotoimagingcenter.com

In that case...I'll most certainly punt. Anybody here able to point David in the right direction? Is a fully unlocked version of i1Profiler able to work with arbitrary input charts, or at least custom measurements of supported charts? If so, how...? b&
In the latest version, 1.6.1, i1Profiler has added support for custom measurements of the the supported charts. I do not believe they allow for custom camera or scanner charts. Robin Myers On May 7, 2015, at 2:18 PM, Ben Goren <ben@trumpetpower.com> wrote:
