Hi Peter, I’ sure dithering does matter in your case as Matthew already pointed out. In the dark shadows it can make things easier after a proper conversion, since the 8 bit resolution per channel isn’t enough to handle such images. You can simulate the effect by applying a very subtle noise (1-2 percent). In our practice we always handle and edit grayscale or near-grayscale images in 16 bit, to have a better softproof (and final art). Regards, Peter Colorcom
