Hello all I have been quietly following this group for some time. I'm a photographer and drum scanner operator, and I would like to improve my understanding of color theory. Currently, I loosely understand what to do from a workflow perspective, but the why of a lot of it eludes me, and most of the discussion on this board is over my head. I wonder if anyone could recommend to me a primer text on applied color theory. Best Brian Aderer
I would recommend "Real World Color Management" 2nd edition, by Fraser et.al. Hi Brian As well as Bruce Fraser’s earlier book you could try “Color Management and Quality Output” Tom P Ashe, focal press, 2014. Cheers Tim McMahon

Brian I always get trainees here to read through sections of Fred Bunting’s Colortron Manual. Just did a quick search for a specific sentence from my copy and can see that the Color Primer is available as a PDF on the X-Rite web site: <https://www.xrite.com/documents/apps/public/misc/Color_Primer_by_Fred_Bunting.pdf> It’s very well written. Thanks Fred :) -- Martin Orpen Idea Digital Imaging Ltd
I must agree, it's the best primer on the subject ever IMHO. I have the original manual (and the product), didn't know a PDF was even available. It's a MUST have, the price is right too! Andrew Rodney http://www.digitaldog.net/
