Re: Spot Reading Software for Lion / Mountain Lion
Robin/Derek...thanks for the software suggestions. I'm not ready to part with the money for the simple spot readings tasks I currently need to perform. Babelcolor PatchTool and SpectraShop do a lot more and may be just what I need down the road. I will keep them in my memory banks for when I need more flexible and power tools. Scott, thanks, ColorPort did exactly what I needed and it is free. I just needed to check some numbers for neutrality and density. I was under the mistaken impression ColorPort required you to create a formal reference file before taking spot readings, (which it does, sort of), but your are correct...just select any old predefined chart, start taking spot readings (even if they diverge wildly from the reference data) then view the data using the "Info" button. You can view colorimetric, spectral, density, spectral graph, status T/E/A, Lab, LCH, XYZ, etc. It's basic, but it did the job I needed to do. I never bothered trying take spot readings, since I thought I first needed a reference chart that was in the ballpark to identify the data, but you don't. Thanks for the tip. Lou
