This is not part of the discussion. You both have Affinity Photo….that’s my reason for the query. Have you found a simple way to create an unaltered border, and know what the image size is in inches? Not sure what you mean by, "unaltered border." Image size is easy. Cmd-opt-I (same as in Photoshop) brings up the image resize dialog box (which I'm sure you can get to through a menu). There's a drop-down in there to specify the units for the document...it defaults to pixels, which is annoying. Same with canvas size, which is the familiar cmd-opt-C. Affinity doesn't always properly pick up image resolution from TIFFs and instead defaults to, I think, 75 PPI. That's also annoying. But, if you know the proper resolution, you can change it easily enough. Just be sure to uncheck the "resample image" box. b&

Like in PS CS5, I have the exact size image file I want, then I can go to image > canvas size > and choose a plain white border, around the image. I can choose the width and color. This is, in my words, unadulterated. In Affinity Photo, I can get a border, using the rectangular tool, as Affinity Photo describes, however I still don’t know the image file dimension, nor how to make the white and keep it. David

The other issue is I must have the entire image file showing. Not cut off like AP does David

Ah -- I follow, now. More than one way to do it...probably least awful would be to start by cropping the image as desired (possibly refining the crop with the canvas size dialog). Add a layer and fill it with any color -- what color doesn't matter. Then use the canvas size dialog to resize the image as you would in Photoshop. Use the magic wand to select the area you filled in the new layer. Create another new layer, invert the selection, and fill the selection with your desired color. Move the new layer to the top. Delete (or hide) the first new layer you created. b&
So long as we're on the topic of Affinity, I found their implementation of color management rather lacking. Maybe I didn't look in all the right places, but I didn't see where they paid much attention to that module so I don't trust it yet for cmyk conversions and maybe even rgb. -----Original Message----- From: Ben Goren Sent: Friday, February 05, 2016 11:10 AM To: Spinnaker Photo Imaging Center Cc: colorsync-users@lists.apple.com Subject: Re: Affinity Photo Not sure what you mean by, "unaltered border." I don't trust anything other than Argyll for color transforms...which is why all I want is a reliable way to print with no color management. For that matter, I don't even need to do the printing from within Affinity. Anything that'll print a TIFF without doing any color transforms or other interpolations or modifications at the specified resolution will do. But it has to be able to do big files...600 ppi or more up to 44" wide and maybe in some very rare instances two or three times as long (though the really big prints won't be 600 ppi). The Canon plugin for Canon's Digital Picture Professional maxes out at 10,000 pixels in the biggest dimension. That's bloody useless for even a 24" printer, let alone a 44" one. b&

Hello Ben, Would QTR Print-Tool do what you want? <http://www.quadtonerip.com/html/QTRprinttool.html> kind regards Nick __ dUNMUR | Photographer http://www.nickdunmur.com

Quite possibly...it at least looks like it might do the job. Seems silly to have to buy third-party software just to get the OS to _not_ do something. I'll check it out and report back. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. b&
I seem to be okay sending my pre-profiled tiffs through Onyx to the printer. I have all color management turned off on the rip. -----Original Message----- From: Ben Goren Sent: Friday, February 05, 2016 11:41 AM To: John Castronovo Cc: Spinnaker Photo Imaging Center ; colorsync-users@lists.apple.com Subject: Re: Affinity Photo On Feb 5, 2016, at 9:30 AM, John Castronovo <jc@technicalphoto.com> wrote:
