Color differences between Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5
Thank you, Andrew. I needed that! I do use "S", soft proofing. I had not used the simulate paper and ink. Next for me, is the print module. I am not interested in all the templates. I usually print 24 x20, and other large sizes. What I am attempting is to have the print, out of the Epson Pro 9900, look nearly the same, if not the same as if I had printed the exact same image file through PS CS5. I am so used to being able to use "view", choose the substrate, and be confident the print will appear nearly as close to the original piece of art I am making a reproduction of. New question: In LR 4, in print module, when expanding the image file to 40 x 60, how does LR 4 know what to do? And, what does it do? What I am thinking is in PS CS5, I lower the ppi from 240, to maybe 180 or 90, for the actual print. What does LR 4 do?

Why doesn't my camera profile show in LR 4? It is available in IPS CS5. I create the camera profile with the x-rite package. Of course, PS CS5 and LR 4 are turned off so the camera profile can get inside. Cheers

Lightroom and ACR use DNG camera profiles, not ICC profiles (for good reason). So you will not see a camera generated ICC profile in Adobe raw processors but will in Photoshop. Andrew Rodney http://www.digitaldog.net/ On 25-01-13 (w 4) 23:32, Millers' Photography L.L.C. wrote:

From the print template which also stores a lot of useful information like all print driver settings and color settings. If you build a Virtual Copy (Proof copy) in the soft proof mode, the rendering intent you pick is honored in the Print module too. Nice not having to remember what you selected earlier. Also examine the settings for dimensions which show you the size and as importantly the native output resolution LR will use to print to the size within the template area. You can also control the output resolution and sizing. If the native resolution of your image will print at under 360 PPI for Epson or 300 PPI for Canon/HP, upsample to 360/300 in LR and apply the correct output sharpening. If the PPI is over 360/300 but below 720/600 PPI, upsample to 720/600. Output sharpening is automatically optimized for print size and resolution sent.
Lastly, forget the print adjustment sliders. Total Kludge for people who simply do not undertand color management! They haven't a clue how to calibrate a display to match a print or view the print correctly. They end up with the 'my prints are too dark' issue so instead of correctly this with proper color management, they are now provided a slider to lighten or darken the print. Only by wasting paper and ink. And ensuring that any other application that prints that document will do so differently. As I said, avoid this area of the Print module like the plague!
