Epson 9900 can't print to 44" wide media
Just so nobody else wastes 4 hours of valuable production time… Contrary to what all the manuals and support documents say, the Epson 9900 is unable to auto sense or acknowledge any media wider than 43" -- even if you've loaded it correctly with 44" paper. Therefore, if you set custom page sizes to anything wider than 43" you'll get a paper load error every time. This behaviour is undocumented and really annoying. This problem doesn't affect printing which bypasses the Epson drivers and drives the 9900 directly -- so we have no problem printing edge to edge on 44" using a GMG RIP -- but this is now impossible using the Epson drivers :( I assumed that our 9900 had a hardware issue with the media sensor but Epson have just confirmed that their in-house 9900 has exactly the same problem… -- Martin Orpen Idea Digital Imaging Ltd

Never heard that. I just tried a 44" x 8" borderless print on 44" wide Epson Premium Luster. Printed just fine. This from Photoshop CS5 on 10.6.8... Epson driver... no third party RIP Bob Smith
