Re: [Icc_users] How can I calculate density value by L*a*b value

Is it possible to calculate a color pattern’s density value manually if I measure the pattern by i1iSis and get the lab value first?
For example, if one color pattern’s measure data is 89,3,-3.2 (Lab) , can I calculate the density value by this data?
As you measure with an iSis it should be no problem to get not only Lab values but also spectral data. You should calculate density from spectral data -- Lab values can give you only a rough density estimation. Bruce Lindbloom has an Excel spreadsheet to calculate density from spectral data: <http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?SpectCalcSpreadsheets.html> You can also use software like BabelColor CT&A or SpectraShop to use an i1 as Densitometer. Both of them do not support the iSis directly, but in SpectraShop you can import e.g. spectral data saved as CGATS ASCII file. Klaus Karcher
