Hi, This is a question primarily for the educators on the list. Which text book do you recommend for a course on Color Management? I started teaching at a local college and I've been using Real World Color Management, 2nd edition, by Bruce Fraser, Chris Murphy, and Fred Bunting. This book is out of print, and Chris tells me there won't be a 3rd edition, but the publisher has a PDF available for purchase. The majority of the book is still very useful, its just that some of the software and operating systems have been updated. Where I can I provide the students with Web addresses that cover issues related to software and updates. The college has made this course mandatory for the Graphic Design Degree and I wanted to see about some other reference material. Thank you, David Wollmann
A good source are ICC's white papers, and there are reference PDFs in almost all sites of hardware and software developers: X-Rite, Canon,... Don't forget to visit ISO for the standars on Photography (TC 42) and Graphic Technology (TC130). Maybe you can take a look to ArgyllCMS (Graeme Gill) and LittleCMS (Marti Maria) sites and try them with a few availables GUI. Tim Gray and Andrew Rodney have edited color management books for photographers. Whiley publications are so good as expensive. Jose Bueno
There's another one that seems pretty good to me, by A. Sharma: http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Color-Management-text-A-Sharma/dp/B0040Y... Photoshop for Photographers by Martin Evening has a good section on practical colour management. and Colour Management: Understanding and Using ICC Profiles (The Wiley-IS&T Series in Imaging Science and Technology) by Phil Green (Ed) is a more academic book. You can look inside at Amazon, but your eyes may begin to bleed. There are very few people on the planet who know as much about colour management-they named part of the rainbow after him. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Colour-Management-Understanding-Profiles-Technology/... best Matthew Ward On 16 Mar 2012, at 17:29, david wollmann wrote:
