Of course the usual irresponsibility. Apple gives developers ample notice and kits to upgrade their drivers/software. Either the developers don't respond, don't respond on time, or there are unexpected issues none of them are prepared to take ownership of, either because of lazy support staff or improper policy. It is sometimes necessary to complain far up the management tree to get the issues addressed. At some responsible level they can become cooperative and get things fixed, but it shouldn't have to be this way.

It's the treadmill issue. Companies write the software once and then they're supposed to write it again and again. And the print system is a little exercised part with a bunch of specialty color management code written with system calls that are proprietary and keep changing - companies get exhausted or frustrated by the treadmill and on paper Apple represents 10% of the market so the dev budget allocation is difficult to obtain and so the Mac updates lag. You can use the Gutenprint drivers, set the driver to uncorrected, set the density so you get enough ink on paper, profile. Done. Mac OSX may be 10% of the total computing market, but probably a much larger share of the market that interests Epson and Canon, so these companies should have a strong interest to insure that their equipment can perform on the most current version of OSX all the time. There could be any number of reasons why this appears not to be happening in some instances. The most frustrating aspect of these kind of situations is the technical support blame-game. Nobody wants to take ownership of issues. Very unprofessional. Mark On Monday, November 25, 2013 8:06:06 AM, edmund ronald <edmundronald@gmail.com> wrote: It's the treadmill issue. Mark, my suggestion is to use a PC as a print server. You can run a windows VM on the Mac. or a RIP. or use the Gutenprint drivers, if people used them that would get me some leverage to get code changes that would improve them. . And stop trying to get a working print system from a company that mainly makes iPhones and iPads. Edmund On Mon, Nov 25, 2013 at 3:13 PM, MARK SEGAL <mgsegal@rogers.com> wrote:
