Re: i1 Profiler charts to ColorPort?
Hi Again, Well, I think I've hit a dead end. The X-rite file "ECI 2002 CMYK random.txt" is formatted completely differently from the one i1Proflier generates. Either option - .pxf and .cxf - produced by "Page Data - Save", look the same when opened with the text editor, and neither is formatted anything like the ECI 2002. Is this reflecting the fact that the "ECI 2002 CMYK random.txt" file is CGATS format (1st line is "CGATS.5"), which ColorPort understands, and the data from i1Proflier is CXF (1st line includes this text: "CxF xmlns:cc="http://colorexchangeformat.com/CxF3-core"")? I suppose ColorPort can't import color exchange format data? Is there some way to translate cxf into cgats? Thanks again, John JWL Images Emeryville, CA
Hi Scott,
Yes, as I said --
I haven't had any success figuring out how to resave the .pxf file i1P generates into anything that ColorPort can use (assuming any success here should also work in SpectralVision Pro). When I go to build new target, and Import Patches, ColorPort sees the .pxf (and a resaved .txt version), but then just throws up a "There was an error importing this file" error.
Maybe instead of just resaving the .pxf as a.txt file it needs some editing as well? Obviously, I have no clue.
-- i1P saves the Patch Set page data as a .pxf by default. CP won't load that, so I opened in Text Edit, resaved as .txt - still no joy.
It seems like I should be able to get CP to import (using Patch Set>New, as below), because at least the file is recognized & CP tries to import it, but errors out.
Uh oh, maybe a clue - I am trying again just now, going thru the default patch sets installed with i1Profiler, and CP did successfully import one (the ECI2002 random)! So now I guess I'll see if I can find out what's different about my chart (i1P's 3008 Patch CMYK) that CP doesn't like.
Will let you know if I can figure this out.
Thanks,
John

Did you create a patch set in i1P and click "Page Data - Save" to save the patch set? That's what you want to load into CP.

Figured it out - just after sending last email, of course. If anyone is interested, the trick was to go past the Patch Set page in i1Proflier to the Test Chart page. When you hit "Page Data - Save" from that page, there is an option to save a text file in Profilemaker5 CGATS format. ColorPort can import that file just fine. I must say, i1Profiler sure is an 'interesting' exercise in User Interface design... Off to do more testing. Scott, thanks for the help! I saw that too but every time I try, i1P crashes. Ouch. Andrew Rodney http://www.digitaldog.net/

Correction. If I save out i1P CGATs, crash. If I instead select ProfileMaker Pro CGATs, no crash. Can anyone else on 10.7.4 verify? Andrew Rodney http://www.digitaldog.net/
Andrew, especially for you I upgraded to 10.7.4 today. Same results here in 10.7.3 and 10.7.4. It is crashing when saving as i1 Profiler but not if saving as ProfileMaker in i1P 1.31 and 10.7.3 It is also acting the same after upgrade to 10.7.4 on both top of the line MacBook Air and top of the line IMac 27" and on top of that on Windows 7 and Vista and Profiler 1.3.1. You can't save as Profiler no matter if you use Mac or Windows. ------ Best Regards, Derek Lambert On May 10, 2012, at 7:01 PM, Andrew Rodney <andrew@digitaldog.net> wrote:

Ahh, that's right. Now why can't one just save the patches in the "Patch Set" mode? Why musty we goto the "Test Chart" mode to save the patches? Scott Martin www.on-sight.com On May 10, 2012, at 5:55 PM, John Lund wrote:
