Print profiles Lion vs pre-Lion
Since upgrading to 10.7.2... and also upgrading to i1Profiler I'm seeing some behavior that I can't explain. I can create and print through new profiles with excellent results. But trying to use profiles that I was happily using on pre-Lion systems gives distinctly lighter prints when printing from Photoshop CS5.1 on a Lion system. Those profiles were created with the same i1 Spectro using EyeOne Match. The tests below were on an Epson 4800 but I'm using several different Epsons. In every case, Color Management is turned off in the driver What I've found: Printing profile targets are identical if printed by any of these three methods... so I must be getting the basic print workflow correct: 1. Print from CS3 on a 10.4.11 system with "No Color Management" 2. Print from CS5 on a 10.7.2 system where I assign AdobeRGB to the Document and then Apply AdobeRGB as the print space (Photoshop manages color) 3. Print from the Adobe Color Printer Utility on a LIon system However test prints applying profiles aren't so consistent: 1. If I print a common test image from CS5.1/10.7.2 through a profile created on the same system it looks as expected. 2. If I print the same image on the same system through a profile created and used often on a 10.6.8 System, the print looks very light. 3. If I print the same image on a CS3/10.4.11 system using a profile built/used on 10.6.8 it looks as expected and very much like the print from #1 4. If I print the same image on a CS3/10.4.11 system using the profile created on a Lion system, the print is dark and overly saturated. Any idea what the heck is going on? I'm more than happy with the new profiles I'm creating/using but I hadn't planned on being REQUIRED to re-profile everything with an upgrade to Lion.
