Re: Soft Proofing with White Border
Eric, That is certainly an excellent document and reference, but it neglects to suggest the 1" white border when viewing the on-screen image. I'm looking for a link that explains simultaneous contrast and how it affects the perceived image in the soft proof. It's a shame my last link disappeared. The article was nearly perfect... For anyone interested, this is for our Reproduction Guide, which we send out with all of our files/guide prints <http://tinyurl.com/n9sny6e>. Thanks. Hi Ken,
You might want to read through this document from Fogra. I'm not sure if it says what you want but I know it has become the "bible" in Europe for soft proofing.

It is recommended that when you soft proof an image on screen compared to a print on white paper (or predicting the print on white paper), that you have a minimum 1" white border surrounding the image on screen. Does anyone know of a good link to a (preferably) non-profit web site that explains in plain English why this is necessary? I need to supply a good reference for it and the link I had been using has gone dead.
