Darwin-dev mailing list (Darwin-dev@lists.apple.com) Help/Unsubscribe/Update your Subscription: http://lists.apple.com/mailman/options/darwin-dev/site_archiver%40lists.appl... I can't find the listed darwin-buildpackage or darwin-buildall tools anywhere. Not sure, but they might be deprecated in favour of the new darwinbuild scripts. Next, I went to opendarwin.org. I've downloaded the set of .tar.gz's onto a UFS disk into a darwinbuild/Sources directory. I've downloaded and built the darwinbuild package from http://darwinsource.opendarwin.org. I've set my compiler to 3.3. ALL of the packages I've tried fail at some point in their building using darwinbuild. I've tried gcc, gcc_os, cctools, gnutar and gnuzip. To quote Rob Braun from the OpenDarwin Hackers list, posted a few days ago: There are a few other things I am working on for a potential OD release. I've fixed a few bugs, removed a few references to non-open CF bits, [...] I've posted this url before, but my diffs to 8.0.1 are at: <http://www.opendarwin.org/~bbraun/darwin8/> If you're familiar with darwinbuild, you'll be familiar with the Roots/ and Sources/ directories there. Sources has my patches, Roots has some of the tarred up roots I've made. This really shouldn't be THAT hard - I"m likely doing something stupid - but what is it? Have you tried running Darwin 8? I'm sure you've noticed some of the glitches and lack of features, if so. There is more than enough work to be done to get it "usable". Is there an up-to-date HOWTO somewhere? (Thats me now) The best I can think of is the OD Hackers list(s Archive). Currently, it looks like the provided Darwin 8.0.1 (aka. Mac OS X 10.4) sources don't build as-is but a few people are working hard to get things sorted. That said, detailed descriptions of what exactly failed (e.g. last lines of the build log) would help discussion/fixing a lot. This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
