There isn't really a "unix color syntax code". Terminal will handle ANSI color escape sequences which is what you are seeing on other Unices and Linux. I suggest the following: - the menu item Terminal->Window Settings... will give you a preferences panel (per-window); select the 'Color' entry from the top pop-up menu, and assure that the "disable..." check box is clear (unchecked) - Read the man page for 'ls' and search for "color" For other programs, you may have to enable color support. I don't know anything about vi.
