I do recall Steve standing on stage making a commitment to HD-DVD with Sony a while back, but I suspect we won't see an Apple-shipping driver until the systems are bumped with the hardware.... who knows when that will happen.
I don't think so - Sony is the key player behind Blu-ray, will not be shipping any HD-DVD hardware for the foreseeable future, and Apple I think committed to Blu-ray too. But no retail Blu-ray drive yet exists for Macs: I suppose you might be able to hack an Xbox 360 drive to work when they ship, and HP has announced an external HD-DVD drive but I have not seen any ship yet even in N America... Strangely, as I type this my first HD-DVD disk is beside me (King Kong), but here in Europe even Toshiba's first domestic player (the HD-E1) is due to start shipping later this month. Howard.
