I need to make my application installer (OSX pmproj-based) automatically add a special MIME type to OSX / Safari -- basically, when a file of a certain type is downloaded, I need the application that my installer installs to start, and it seems that MIME types are the easiest / most cross-platform (I also need to solve this same problem with Firefox on OSX, as well as Firefox and IE on Windows) / most open way to do this.
