I have an old iBook which is "stuck" at version 10.3.9. Is it possible to upgrade this to the latest release manually? I noticed that the Darwin release for 10.5.5 says it is for both PPC and x86. Best thing is to wipe it completely and start with a Leopard install DVD. I think I used another Mac, firewire, and Target Disk Mode to install the software onto an iBook. my kids' iBook G3s are running 10.4.x, whatever is the most recent thing. And Apple's Software Update has yet to break them (knock on head for luck)... I think that developers should be aware of the Target Disk Mode for software installation. Does this mean that the "Target Disk Mode" will ignore the CPU speed requirement? I had tried to upgrade in the past but it did not pass the minimum requirements check.
