There are scores of people for whom compilations break because a couple of header files in /usr/X11R6 are missing or are left at an older version. People had to reinstall X11SDK.pkg up to 3 times until all files were there. Typical missing files are also /usr/lib/crt1.o and friends. I myself counted almost 3000 (!) missing man pages after the upgrade to Panther. This is all pretty disgusting and is costing a lot of people a lot of time. The crt1.o issue is caused by doing some combination of an update to Xcode 1.1 and various system software updates. The fix is to install Xcode 1.2 or 1.5, or to do a full install of Xcode 1.1. I'm pretty sure the most common cause for the missing man page issue is a missing BSD SDK. Reinstall that package and they should show up. This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
