Get the address of the screen ( most likely from firmware, ) calculate the size of the screen and then rip it via firewire. A basic idea of how to write the ripping code can be found here, <ftp://ftp.AnarchistTurtle.com/Others/Quinn/Hacks/ FireStarter1.0a1.sit>, this actually pushes things to the screen but the read should be trivial. Once this is done, you will then have to write a quick app to convert your raw grab into a jpeg or gif.
