Being an old fart, I never think about stuff like that. Well, I was using "homework" figuratively. Being an old fart myself, I'd rather help someone research the problem and solve it themselves than solve it for them (for free, anyway). So given the question "how do I intercept low level notifications and/or change power management behavior", suggesting that darwin-dev isn't the best forum, and pointing the original poster at better ones seemed pretty reasonable to me.
