Well Carbon won't be going away as such, but there won't be a 64-bit version of Carbon. Here is one source: That story is old and inaccurate. 64-bit Carbon is already here, but as I said, only the HIToolbox and some deprecated technologies did not get ported over. This means that "pure" Carbon apps can't be ported to 64-bit, but the alias manager and most everything else made it.
