You may, if you are very, very lucky and the low level driver has implemented it, use the IOSSIOSPEED ioctl the argument is a uint32_t * to the desired baudrate. I have a microcontroller that seems perfectly willing to speak serial at 1Mb/s (which is a handy division of the clock rate).
