It indeed also happens on my MacBook with 10.5.1 (bash account, also with fink installed, but executing the Leopard default screen).

FWIW, I see it too, on a MacBook Pro with 10.5.1. I use zsh, don't have fink, do have MacPorts, and I don't use screen, so no .screenrc etc etc.

Actually, when I persuade screen to use zsh (screen -s /bin/zsh), my path stays intact. Interesting...

... One more email, then I'll shut up. While we're discussing screen - is there some secret way of properly integrating it with the scroll buffer provided by Terminal.app?
