Is this --delete problem perhaps related to the error I have been seeing when I try to selfupdate the darwinports' tree (I realize this is the darwindev list hosted by Apple and not darwinports). Yes, ever since the release of the latest Apple Security Updates, these things started to occur for both Fink and DarwinPorts users on 10.4. Users of 10.3.9. don't seem to be affected, however, as the Security Update didn't make any changes to rsync on that platform. This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
