AppleACPIPlatform is of course crucial to the maintenance of a free and open source platform, and Darwin-8 cannot be classified as such without it at this time. In such a case, dedicated FOSS users will be forced to retreat to Darwin-7 or earlier until the situation is remedied either by release of the code, or by its replacement. What about XNU? We are mired at Darwin-8.3 at this time.
