site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: darwin-dev@lists.apple.com User-agent: Microsoft-Entourage/10.1.6.040913.0 I just saw something funky on Jaguar Server. I thought I could hit up the list to see if anyone had an idea. For some reason after a reboot Apple Remote desktop does not come up. I then use the function from the admin tool to update software. I do this and it works fine. Then ARD lets me back in. Users that have been on this machine all come up as not there. For instance, accounts that were there are unusable unless you create them or run an installer for what ever sw that recreates the user. I don't get it. I look in net info manager under groups/admin I see the names that the terminal says don¹t exist. Any idea why? Repairing permissions makes no changes. When trying to open the accounts preference panel it crashes. Any ideas on how to patch this? Only thought I had was to take a clean install of jaguar server on another machine and copy the netinfo db from it to the bad machine. Someone told me that I'd have to be in single user mode? Is it possible to replace it? Maybe move it elsewhere on the drive, put mine in there and then reboot and after reboot trash the original? I am for any ideas. I am trying VERY hard to NOT reinstall. The way this happened is I was simply adding a user to be logged in to run EIMS rather than using sendmail. I created it under the accounts preference pane. It worked fine until reboot. Then the crap hit the fan and all has been hell since. If I open the accounts preference pane it crashes instantly. I am at a loss! Any help is appreciated!
