The libsasl shipping with Mac OS X Leopard (and Snow Leopard) seems to support authentication mechanics that are not part of the official distribution of cyrus libsasl or the libsasl part of darwins passwordserver_sals project. I am a bit uncertain if I probably overlook something because libsasl is part of darwin after all and it would surprise me if just a single mechanic plugin would be missing. The sasl mechanic i am looking for is called PPS. I would appreciate if someone could please let me know if that should be part of the darwin sasl or if that in fact is something private to apple.
