If the kernel extension blocks using msleep( ), does it block the entire process or does it block only a specific thread of that process that is making a call. I am trying to understand the threading model implemented in Tiger.
It may depend somehow on how the control gets to the kernel extension, but I can confirm that a sleep (IOLockSleepDeadline()) in an IOKit driver reached via a BSD ioctl blocks only the calling thread, and not the entire process.
