greetings, i recently acquired a 1.25 gHz titanium powerbook G4 that i have been testing my ethernet audio hardware device driver on (under 10.2.8). However I've encountered a problem: When I load the AppleGMACEthernet kernel extension that comes with 10.2.8 (version 1.3b15) on the new powerbook, the I/O registry explorer reports that the PHY type is a "Marvell 88E1111" and networking works fine. When I built my own copy of the same version of the AppleGMACEthernet extension (from the source code available from apple), the PHY type is identified as "Unknown" and the ethernet port doesn't work. There is no reference to the 88E1111 PHY chip anywhere in the source code (there are references to the 88E1011 chip though). whats going on?? it seems like the "open source" driver available from apple doesn't correspond to the driver that actually comes with the OS. Can anyone shed some light on this situation or maybe suggest another forum where someone might be able to answer this question ? or tell me where i can get the source code to an AppleGMACEthernet driver that supports the Marvell 88E1111 PHY chip ? thanks in advance -rimas __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
