Doug,
Question 4 you: if this were an issue, shouldn't I expect to see the
same behavior/problem with/between all my machines? Why would this
affect only one 'pair', and in one direction?
Richard
Well, I only have the freezing problem between my home mac and my uni mac, both can ssh to other boxes with no problem. It is finicky, without the afore mentioned settings I see freezes after anywhere between 2-20Mb are transferred. The only info I have been able to find is something about dropped acks causing the freeze, but it only affects ssh protocol. Since I have not seen any resolution to the problem, and since info on ssh hangs is fairly hard to come by, I am only throwing my experience out the in hopes it helps someone.
