In the few tests I did with this testcase the kernel panic occurred within a few seconds. If all is well the application shouldn't ever terminate, but keep reporting messages like "received 47700". In case you want to feel better, your test program runs without incident (and without modification) just fine on Solaris 10 for x86, so there's nothing inherent to your test that should be causing a problem.
