char * causing kernel panics

Hi, Never mind where ever i declare a char * or caddr_t vairable it is causing a kernel Panic when i loaded a compiled version of my KEXT, despite the fact that there are other places in the code that have these variables declared. I took example project from nke and modified it. Now why would adding char * values cause it to panic?
