AppleShare/IP and Timbuktu issues with my VPN NKE

Could anyone out there give me some quick reference URL's about the way AppleShare/IP and Timbuktu may include IP addresses in the IP data (or TCP data) portion of their communications? I have received a report that my VPN NKE is not properly handling such traffic.
