Hello, I would like to apologize if this question was answered/summarized somewhere else before, but if not: How big portion of OS X kernel is open sourced? What all is missing to be able to compile your own kernel in OS X like you can do in GNU/Linux?
nothing, (except Apple ACPI Platform implementation, you have a binary copy), some low level hardware concerns like every constructor
What is the biggest problem with open-sourcing other parts of kernel? Is it licensing or is there any other reason?
third-part-copyright, Apple concerns ecetera about their technologies and their hardware, nothing exceptional
I know there has been some discussion before, but I couldn't make clean image of it, so I would be very thankful if someone summed it up. thanks in advance marian
not really, an interesting question, and certainly not the place for that Best
