RE: Running Acronis on MacBook Pro w/Windows
site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: darwin-kernel@lists.apple.com Thread-index: AcitQqnnaqvlgH5RTmuW4h8qncK7dgACiGMg Duane, Intel Macs do not use the legacy Master Boot Record, they use the GUID Parition Table scheme. EFI uses GPT where BIOS uses a Master Boot Record (MBR). Acronis's problem is that it does not support the GUID partition format. What I'm wanting to know is if there is a way to over come the Acronis shortcomings. The Acronis backup program will not run on a MacBook Pro which is running Windows. I believe the problem is due to the fact that Bootcamp does not use the legacy Master Boot Record.
That would be an incorrect supposition. Boot Camp works specifically because the MBR is used to boot into Windows. ...Duane _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. They will be ignored.
