I did a google on the message but can not find any references to this anyware. I started getting this error message on two different laptops after upgrading it 10.3.2. When I get these messages the hard drive is making a nasty clicking sound and all disk IO is blocked. Doing a clean install makes the problem go way for a while but it does come back after a few weeks. I don't know how my experience relates to yours, but: I have seen this several times, on a 500Mhz Firewire/USB G3 laptop, while trying to mount a CD. In each case, I fixed it expeditiously :-} by waiting until the dust settled, opening the CD tray, and closing it again. The nasty clicking sound, in my case, seemed to be CD-related. For me it's not CD related and it seems to be new with 10.3.2. It's happened on both my TiBook 667Mz (Without DVI) and a iBook G3 500. It seems that after the problem going on for a while I am unable to boot and I start getting bad disk errors and am forced to do a clean reinstall. It does not seem to be filesystem related as if I use firewire disk mode the drive is just fine and everything can be read and recovered without any issues at all.
From looking around it looks like the message is from IOATAController::handleExecIO() line 922. I may see if I can get it to recompile with the ATA debug messages enabled to see if it turns anything up. I have not had a chance to run diff's between the 10.3.2 and 10.3.1 versions yet.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or is just that my laptops don't like me ;-) RJ --- RJ Auburn CTO, Voxeo Corporation tel:+1-407-418-1800 _______________________________________________ darwin-kernel mailing list | darwin-kernel@lists.apple.com Help/Unsubscribe/Archives: http://www.lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/darwin-kernel Do not post admin requests to the list.
