My first reaction was to #define the Apple byte swapping routines to the native linux byteswapping routines, since you reported messages to the effect that the Apple routines were undeclared or undefined.
However, this was based purely on the error message you posted earlier, and I haven't actually looked at where/how they are defined, and if they would magically appear if you defined some other symbol (like the endianness) you'll have to do that research for yourself.
BTW, these questions are really more appropriate for darwin-dev, I think. There's really nothing specific to the kernel here.
