This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com I'd like to learn to build my own OS X kernel ( I understand that is not the same as let's say a Linux Kernel) But I have built Linux Kernels in the past and I want to learn this process for the mac OS X I have 10.9 installed along with Xcode 5.0.2 an have been goggling around the Apple Developers area. The document I found seems to be referencing PowerPC, I have an iMac 2011 (Darwin Kernel Version 13.0.0: Thu Sep 19 22:22:27 PDT 2013; root:xnu-2422.1.72~6/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64) I am thinking about using subversion to store my source and work with adding I/O modules and Kernel Extentions for practice. If there is a simple explanation ( steps ) on accomplishing this it would be nice.
