Rather than write it up in this mail I'm going to write an article for my website and post it at http://www.goingware.com/tips/ Command-F1 didn't work for me; I don't know if this is because it's not supported on the MacBook Pro, or because I was using an external keyboard. One of my other problems was that I poured coffee on my keyboard a while back. (My wife says I shouldn't be allowed to own a laptop.) Simply trying to enable mirroring in the window server prefs doesn't work; it needs to have a whole dictionary for the additional display. (Vine VNC is a free download. The server is GPL open source, but the viewer is commercial, but with a free trial period.) Thanks for all your help! I'm really relieved to have my MacBook Pro back.
