Re: single machine debugging?/advice for noob on OS X panic
site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: darwin-kernel@lists.apple.com David, ^I have the very same problem with my employer. :) --EJ _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. Darwin-kernel mailing list (Darwin-kernel@lists.apple.com) Help/Unsubscribe/Update your Subscription: http://lists.apple.com/mailman/options/darwin-kernel/site_archiver%40lists.a... Thanks for your work on the backtrace. I'll file a bug and pass the info along to the Azureus developers. To put it more in perspective, the odds of this being helpful to a virus (unless the goal of the virus were to cause a kernel panic) are probably roughly on the same order as the odds of Ralph Nader winning today's election by a landslide. :-) Actually, I *was* thinking that some malicious person might simply seek to cause panics on lots of Mac systems. Not a big deal, so long as the system isn't doing anything very important, comes back up and critical data hasn't been damaged. Alot of qualifiers there, though... I wasn't trying to suggest that the vulnerability could be used as the basis for self-replicating code. One could use spam/social engineering (eg, phishing), hacked websites or other means to get the code executing on people's systems. As for Nader, he's looking strong for 2012 or maybe 2016... Of course the machines will have taken over by then, but we can always send the governor of California back in time to straighten things out. ;) Just my $0.02. As always, my opinions rarely (if ever) reflect the views of my employer. :-) This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
