I wrote code to do this years ago, but I've completely forgotten how it works (-: I do remember cribbing lots of it from the fs_usage tool, so that might be a place to start. <http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/system_cmds/system_cmds-541/fs_usage.tproj/> These days I just DTrace <x-man-page://1/dtrace> to get this sort of information; it's so much nicer.
